Join NestSoft at FABTECH 2026, where we'll be joining our partner HSG at Booth #C3425 to showcase Libellula's latest software innovations and AI-powered technologies for sheet metal manufacturing. The event takes place October 21–23 in Las Vegas.
Libellula develops CAD/CAM solutions and software for fabrication shops with one clear objective: simplifying production processes while making them safer, more efficient and more interconnected. NestSoft brings these solutions to North American manufacturers, with local expertise and support.
For Libellula, innovation cannot simply be a succession of technological breakthroughs. It must be a continuous journey that combines operational reliability with digital transformation. This vision is built around an approach to Artificial Intelligence in which technology is engineered to support the day-to-day activities of shop-floor professionals and help companies move towards a model of digitalization in which automation and AI remain at the service of people, amplifying their expertise on the shop floor.
LIA, Libellula Integrated AI, is the evolution of Libellula's software solutions: automation and Artificial Intelligence at the service of people, amplifying the skills of those working on the shop floor instead of replacing them.
01 · Artificial Intelligence Enters Processes and Software Solutions
In a rapidly evolving environment, Libellula is embracing change by investing in training and Artificial Intelligence tools through a transparent and pragmatic approach. AI is not an abstract destination, but part of a structured journey that is already accelerating internal workflows across departments and speeding up software development and release processes, while keeping the real needs and well-being of shop-floor professionals at the center.
This approach is taking shape through a new generation of software solutions. Among the latest developments is an advanced import tool that can process a complex assembly, review the file geometry, identify and classify its structure, generate 2D flat patterns for sheet metal parts and tubes, assign the appropriate manufacturing operations to each element and, finally, create production orders within the order management module.
AI plays a key role during the classification stage. When part structures are too complex to be automatically recognized by conventional systems, Artificial Intelligence analyzes the information contained within the file. The software can then reconstruct the profiles and suggest an accurate classification, which the operator simply needs to confirm.

02 · Intelligent Efficiency at the Machine: From Drawing to Material Recovery
The same focus on efficiency is driving the evolution of Libellula.WIZARD, Libellula's on-board CAM solution, through the development of OPTIA by Libellula, Optical Profile Acquisition.
Integrated directly with the cutting system, OPTIA automatically captures the actual geometry of sheet metal remnants using cameras installed above the cutting table.
OPTIA addresses one of the key challenges in material recovery. Irregular remnants are often discarded or stored in the system as approximate rectangular shapes. Instead, OPTIA captures an image of the remaining sheet material, corrects image distortions and reconstructs its actual profile. The remnant can then be saved in inventory or sent directly to the nesting process while the material is still on the cutting table.
Here, AI operates through a neural-network-based segmentation algorithm that overcomes the limitations of conventional systems affected by lighting conditions and shadows. The algorithm optimizes the profile contours and removes imperfections, producing accurate, ready-to-use CAD geometry.
The integrated Libellula.JOBSHOP ecosystem for the technical office, flat-sheet cutting, tube processing and bending continues to natively connect people, processes and machines within a single production workflow.

03 · The Evolution of Intelligent Support: AI at the Operator's Service
Building on this solid foundation, Libellula continues to evolve in response to the emerging needs of a dynamic market where fast and effective answers are increasingly essential. With the aim of providing increasingly advanced technical support that is closer to the people working on the shop floor, Libellula is accelerating innovation by combining its extensive knowledge base with the capabilities of Artificial Intelligence.
This journey is taking shape in an AI-powered digital assistant designed to radically transform the way operators interact with the Libellula ecosystem and access technical support. By reducing troubleshooting and resolution times, the digital assistant provides a new level of operational autonomy while making interactions direct, seamless and natural, much like having an experienced technical specialist always available.
